Advanced Chiropractors Know Good Health is a Total Body Approach

Chiropractors around the world are concerned about the total health of their patients, i.e., life long health fitness, and not simply the health of their spine (which of course is primary to good health!). Advanced chiropractic techniques can help a myriad of health problems, but one thing it cannot do it make a person eat properly. Women, more than men, eat healthier in general and do to their more acute body awareness, they can be very disciplined in both eating a good diet and getting regular exercise. And, a big motivator for women is pregnancy. Many women adopt healthier lifestyles when they become pregnant. And, this is good for both mother and baby alike. So, I was a bit disheartened to read about a new study that suggests that young mothers of small children exercise less than other women their age and don’t eat as well.

According to the new report, which was published in the journal Pediatrics, the young mothers studied had poor eating habits that included calorie-heavy saturated fats and sweetened beverages. In addition, the young mothers got about an hour less of moderate to vigorous physical activity each week than similar childless women, who were active for three hours a week on average, the researchers found. Naturally, these young mothers were more likely to be overweight than other women their age.

Obviously, these young women could use the guidance of those in the health care profession. Women with young children see plenty of medical doctors, with regard to their children. Wouldn’t it be prudent for these doctors to discuss health issues with the mothers as well?
